The Samsung Galaxy S22 line.

Lisa Eadichico / CNET

This has already been a busy year for Samsung. The technology giant introduced Galaxy S21 FE in January, just before Launch of the Galaxy S22 series in February. It also released three new tablets and composition of Galaxy Book laptops before the end of February.

While the Galaxy S line is one of Samsung’s most popular devices, Samsung is releasing Galaxy devices in many categories and will likely debut with other products throughout the year. We can’t say for sure which ones, but there were a few major product lines that went beyond Samsung’s announcements in January and February.

Here’s a look at other Samsung products that I hope to see in 2022. Samsung usually runs the Unpacked event every August, so it’s possible that at least some of these gadgets will arrive then.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5

IN Galaxy Watch 4, which debuted in August, marked an important milestone for Samsung’s smartwatches. This is the first model that comes with the new version of Google’s Wear OS software, created in partnership with Samsung. Some of the benefits of this partnership are already evident in the Galaxy Watch 4, especially its compatibility with the wide range of applications available in the Google Play store.

But we were hoping to see more Google-inspired features, as my colleague Scott Stein wrote in his Review of Galaxy Watch 4. The Galaxy Watch 4 didn’t even come with Google Assistant at launch, although that will change in the coming months. We hope that the next model will retain the features we already love – such as the wide variety of health tracking features and excellent display – while infusing more of Google’s software experience. It would also be great to see a longer battery life, given that the Galaxy Watch 4 only lasts between one and two days during CNET testing.

We haven’t heard much about the Galaxy Watch 5 yet, except for a report from the Korean technical site ETNews, which suggests that the device may be able to measure body temperature. More rumors are likely to emerge as August approaches.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2.

New Samsung Galaxy Buds

Samsung released new headphones in August in the last two years, so there is a chance to do the same in 2022. However, the question is whether the company can release a new version of high-end Galaxy Buds Prostandard Galaxy Buds 2 or in the form of beans Galaxy Buds live.

Regardless of the model, you can work on a new pair of headphones, according to the Galaxy Club. The Dutch-based blog speculated in December that a recent battery entry on the Korean product certification website may belong in the charging box for a new pair of Samsung headphones.

We won’t know for sure until Samsung announces. But if Samsung launches a new version of the Galaxy Buds Pro, we’d like to see a design with a tighter fit for better noise reduction.

Products like Galaxy Buds and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch are becoming an increasingly important part of the smartphone experience, which makes me think that Samsung will continue to launch new headphones on a regular basis. The appeal of a device is not just in the phone itself, but how well it works with other products we often use in connection with our phones – such as headphones, fitness trackers and smart watches.

This is a strategy that works well for Apple, which has become a top player in the wearable market thanks to Apple Watch and AirPods. I am sure that Samsung will continue to compete in this regard.

Galaxy Z Flip 3

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the most practical foldable phone currently available. But it comes with some important trade-offs compared to Samsung’s non-folding Galaxy phones, especially around the camera and battery life.

If Samsung keeps its current model, we can see another Z Flip 4 in August, which we hope will cope with these shortcomings. There are still not many rumors about Z Flip 4, except for the report from the Korean newspaper The Elec, which shows that Samsung’s next flip phone will have a slightly larger screen on the lid.

Such a change would make it even easier to see notifications without opening the device, which was one of the biggest drawbacks of the original Z Flip. Samsung has fixed this on the Z Flip 3 by making the cover screen four times bigger. But making an even slightly larger display can go a long way to making the Z Flip’s front display even more useful for reading notifications. I also hope that Samsung will continue to add new software features that take advantage of Flip’s flexible screen, such as Flex Mode.

Samsung’s patent, covered by the technical blog Lets Go Digital, shows a device that looks like a Z Flip, but with a rotating camera located inside the hinge, has also sparked some speculation. But such a move seems far-fetched, especially since Samsung’s design changes to the Z Flip have so far been largely growing.

Samsung released the original Galaxy Z Flip in February 2020, while 5G version came just a few months later in August. It too Galaxy Z Flip 3 in August 2021. Samsung’s moment is different, but the fact that it has already released three versions of this phone in two years makes me believe that it can be a regular part of Samsung’s annual upgrade cycle.

Galaxy Z Fold 3

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

While the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is designed for people who want to make their phone more compact, the Galaxy Z Fold uses the opposite approach. Open it and you’ll find a 7.6-inch tablet-sized display on the inside. IN Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the third iteration of Samsung ‘s widescreen foldable phone and is the most polished.

But it still feels uncomfortable to use as a regular phone when closed, which remains its biggest drawback. Samsung has already tried to deal with this by making the Z Fold 3 thinner and lighter than the Z Fold 2 and I hope to continue in this direction.

Like the other products on this list, we haven’t heard many rumors about the Galaxy Z Fold 4. But based on the improvements between the second and third generation of the Z Fold, I would expect to see a new processor, some design improvements and hopefully more better battery life in the next version. It would also be great to see software enhancements that make better use of this large internal screen.

We hope that this phone will also benefit Android 12Lwhich is specially designed for foldable phones, tablets and dual screen devices.

Samsung has released the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 2 in August 2021 and 2020, respectively, until the first Galaxy Z Fold was launched in September 2019. This makes it look like the Z Fold has also become a regular part of Samsung’s annual product range, so there’s a chance to see new device closer to the fall.

Samsung’s Flex S concept

Sean Booker / CNET

New type of folding Samsung

Folding phones like the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip are still relatively new to most people. But Samsung is already considering what may follow, as the company has proven CES 2022 when it showed several new folding concepts. If the latest leaks are correct, one of these gadgets may soon become more than just a concept.

A known source that passes The icy universe on Twitter recently said that Samsung plans to release a “mysterious” third foldable device this year. But Ross Young, an analyst and CEO of Supply Chain Consultants, answer this may be postponed until 2023

Of the concepts that Samsung has recently demonstrated, I’m most excited about the Flex S. This concept folds like an accordion and has two hinges, resulting in something that looks like three display panels joined together. It can be used as a regular phone when fully folded, but it expands to become a tablet-sized display that looks bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

When it comes to foldable devices, I usually prefer devices that offer more screen space – like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 – over flip-phone-style devices. Ordinary phones are now compact enough, so I see more benefit in having a phone that can provide more screen space for reading and watching videos when I need it. The Flex S concept from CES 2022 looks like an evolution of the Galaxy Z Fold in this regard.

Only Samsung knows what’s next in its pipeline. But given that competitors like TCL are also publicly experimenting with new folding designs, it won’t be surprising to see another idea from Samsung in the near future. In addition to remaining competitive, market research shows that sales of folding devices are beginning to accelerate, which gives Samsung a greater incentive to remain a forerunner in this space.

Galaxy S21 FE.

Lisa Eadichico / CNET

Samsung Galaxy S22 FE

Samsung’s “Fan Edition” smartphones are a more affordable alternative to Galaxy S series devices. Galaxy S20 FE launched in 2020 as a cheaper version of Galaxy S20but the Galaxy S21 FE didn’t arrive until early 2022, just before the Galaxy S22’s debut.

This makes it difficult to know when Samsung may launch the Galaxy S22 FE, if at all. Samsung essentially positions the Galaxy S21 FE as its previous-generation option, aimed at those who typically buy last year’s device to save some money, which makes me think it will support this strategy by continuing the FE line.

If the Galaxy S22 FE is something like the S21 FE, there will probably be a screen that is bigger than the regular S22 but smaller than the S22 Plus. It may also have a larger battery than the standard Galaxy S22, as the S21 FE’s battery is larger than the regular S21.

If so, I think the Galaxy S22 FE has the potential to be the best choice in the Samsung range for those who need an affordable Android phone. Although I generally liked the regular S22, it was a little too small for my taste and the battery life was missing. Samsung has the opportunity to consider both points in a future FE model.

Samsung may be best known for its Galaxy smartphones when it comes to mobile devices. But products like the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Buds prove that the company is focusing more on devices next to smartphones. As for what follows after smart watches and headphones, this is a question that only Samsung can answer. But I still hope to see a pair of smart glasses one day.
