The Nissan Rogue Sport will soon be phased out of the automaker’s lineup, a spokesperson confirmed Monday. In a letter to dealers first obtained by Automotive News, Nissan said production of the Rogue Sport will end in December.
“With the all-new Rogue and the newly redesigned Kicks, we’ll continue to cover that part of the [the] to the market effectively,” Nissan vice president Scott Shirley said in the dealer note, according to Automotive News.
“As part of our Nissan Next plan, which is focused on prioritizing our core models and segments that bring the most value to customers, U.S. production of the Rogue Sport will end after the 2022 model year,” Nissan said in a statement. .
Nissan will continue to sell the Rogue until early 2023, and Automotive News reports that the company will offer parts support until 2033. The Nissan Qashqai — as the Rogue Sport is called in other countries — will continue to be sold worldwide.
Despite the shared name, the Nissan Rogue and Rogue Sport are very different machines. The Rogue is bigger, more powerful and has a longer list of tech features. The Rogue Sport was originally introduced as a cheaper entry point into the Nissan brand, but that role is now filled by the Kicks. The Rogue Sport currently commands a nearly $5,000 premium over the Kicks.
