With the next onecomes fast on Wednesday, according to rumors the Galaxy S22 range is just around the corner – including Samsung’s latest high-end phone, the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Although successful The series was discontinued in 2021, the S22 Ultra is expected to revive the Note’s concept for a large screen, including a stylus.
Here’s everything we expect to see from the S22 Ultra. In addition to the features mentioned below, we expect the S22 Ultra to support– just like its predecessor, , who won the CNET Editors’ Choice Award. For a broader overview of what we can see from this year’s Galaxy range, check out our .
Note-like design with huge screen and built-in stylus
Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra may get a new design with square edges, which is more like its Note series. This is according to various leaks, incl images from the Indian technology site Digit and the well-known expiring Stephen Hemerstofer, better known by his nickname on Twitter @OnLeaks. A similar design can be seen in an expired promotional poster for the new phone, published by LetsGoDigital and photos from the 91Mobiles technology blog, as well as new leaked images from Evan Blas.
For comparison, here is a picture of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
But perhaps the biggest feature the Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to inherit from the Note is the included stylus. Digit images show Samsung’s S Pen stylus slot, and images posted by LetsGoDigital, 91Mobiles and Evan Blass also include the stylus displayed next to the phone.
For more indications that the S22 Ultra will be available with the S Pen and a new Note-like design, check out these videos from Hemerstofer and the YouTube channel Unbox Therapy, both claiming to feature fictitious units from Samsung’s Galaxy S22 range. (The Unbox Therapy video was removed and re-uploaded to another channel.)
The Galaxy S21 Ultra was the first Galaxy S phone to support the S Pen, but there is no place to store the stylus and you have to buy it separately. Based on the leaks, it looks like Samsung could change that by including the S Pen in the box this year and adding a storage slot to the phone itself.
Following in the footsteps of the S21 Ultra and S20 Ultra, the S22 Ultra is expected to be the largest phone in Samsung’s new range. The Galaxy S22 Ultra may have a 6.8-inch screen with a dynamic AMOLED panel, according to a leak from the deals site MySmartPrice and a leak from Ishan Agarwal. This is confirmed by the promotional images that Evan Blas leaked. This would make it approximately the same size as the current Galaxy S21 Ultra. Like its predecessor, it must also have the ability to increase the screen refresh rate to 120Hz. A recent big leak from the German site WinFuture confirmed both the 6.8-inch display and the refresh rate of 120 Hz.
New P-shaped protrusion of the camera with better magnification
If you’ve seen the leaked images above, you’ve probably noticed another highlight: a new U-shaped protrusion on the camera. If the leaks turn out to be accurate, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a redesigned camera module with multiple lenses. While the lenses of the current Galaxy S21 Ultra are located in a rectangular unit, the leaks suggest that Samsung may choose a P-shaped cutout on the S22 Ultra’s camera.
But one of the biggest improvements we expect to see in the S22 Ultra’s camera comes down to its zoom capabilities. According to another reputable distributor, Ice Universe (via SamMobile), Galaxy S22 Ultra will have an improved periscope camera lens capable of continuous magnification. This should result in clearer images compared to the S21 Ultra’s fixed camera lenses.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to come with a main camera with a quadruple lens, just like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but reports are mixed on the resolution of its telephoto lenses. A separate publication from Ice Universe (via GSM Arena) shows that the S22 Ultra will be available with a 108-megapixel main lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens and two 12-megapixel telephoto lenses. Meanwhile, the leak from MySmartPrice and Agarwal and the leak from WinFuture and Evan Blass suggest that both telephoto lenses will have a 10-megapixel sensor instead.
In addition to the camera’s specifications, MySmartPrice, Agarwal and WinFuture also speculate that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be available in four colors: white, black, burgundy and green.
Processor, battery life and other key details
Samsung typically uses both its own Exynos chips and Qualcomm processors in its phones, depending on the region, and is likely to do the same this year. If the Galaxy S22 Ultra works with Samsung’s new Exynos 2200 processor, it can be powerful gaming. The chip includes a brand new graphics processor, built in collaboration with AMD, which the company claims will bring a big boost to gaming and overall graphics performance.
Other markets are likely to receive a version of the S22 Ultra that runs on Qualcomm’s latest processor. This will probably mean that the American version of the S22 series will work on the recently announced by Qualcommwhich according to the chipmaker should bring improvements such as the ability to capture 8K video at 30 frames per second and 30% faster graphics.
In terms of battery life, the S22 Ultra is expected to have a lot in common with its predecessor. The S22 Ultra is reported to have a 5,000 mAh battery, just like the Galaxy S21 Ultra, according to MySmartPrice and WinFuture leaks, and a 45-watt fast charge.
Samsung’s Ultra phones also typically include more memory and storage space than their cheaper siblings. Liqueur Roland Quand tweeted that the cheapest version of the S22 Ultra will be available with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of memory. Other options, Quandt writes, include a model with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory and a more expensive version with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of memory.
Release date and price
Samsung is set to keep a said John Prosser despite supply chain issues that made the S22 available and the S22 Plus dated March 11, the S22 Ultra will be available on February 25., and we expect to see the official presentation of the Galaxy S22 range then. There is good news for fans of the hearing S22 Ultra: Leaker
In terms of pricing, we can expect the Galaxy S22 Ultra to be the most expensive phone in Samsung’s new range. It is less clear how much it will cost. The Galaxy S21 Ultra starts at $ 1,200 without exchanging a device, so Samsung may offer the S22 Ultra at a similar price. Kuand wrote that the base S22 Ultra with 128GB will cost 1249 euros and the S22 Ultra with 512GB will cost 1449 euros. This starting price of the S22 Ultra becomes approximately $ 1405. However, prices in euros include tax. (Converts to around £ 1,050 or AU $ 2,000, both of which look right, given that the UK and Australia have the same VAT rate as Europe.)
Overall, it looks like the Galaxy S22 Ultra may be a viable successor to Samsung’s popular Galaxy Note. This may also make it easier for Samsung to distinguish the Ultra from the regular Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, although we won’t know for sure until Samsung makes an announcement.
