Apple has a problem with Will Smith.
New York Times reporting on the loss-making situation at Apple on the release of emancipation, a $120 million Civil War drama starring Will Smith that wrapped shooting about a month before Smith took the stage at the Oscars in March and slapped Chris Rock:
“If they delay the movie, does that tarnish Apple’s reputation?” If they release it, does it tarnish their reputation? … Hollywood loves a win-win situation. This one is a loser.”
The film is said to have generated an “overwhelmingly positive response” at private audience screenings, according to of the NYT sources, with Smith’s performance described as “volcanic”. Some are now pushing for the film to be released before the end of the year so it can be considered for awards.
