A Texas woman wanted in the shooting of a professional cyclist who is said to have been in a love triangle has been arrested in Costa Rica after being searched for seven weeks.
Caitlin Armstrong, 34, was detained Wednesday at a hostel in the coastal town of Santa Teresa. She will be deported and returned to the United States to be charged with the death of Anna Moria Wilson, U.S. marshals said Thursday.
Armstrong fled the United States just days after Wilson, 25, was found shot dead in an Austin apartment after spending the evening swimming with Armstrong’s boyfriend, fellow professional cyclist Colin Strickland, 34, on May 11, authorities said.

Armstrong sold his Jeep Grand Cherokee two days later and then flew to New York. She was traveling to Newark International Airport in New Jersey, where she caught a flight to San Jose on May 18 with a fake passport, US marshals said.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone was believed to have helped her escape or other arrests were expected. U.S. marshals did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.
“This is an example of combining the resources of local, state, federal and international authorities to detain a violent fugitive, stop this flight and hopefully sense the closure of the victim’s family,” said Susan Pamerlo, U.S. Marshal of the West. Texas, said in a statement on the capture of Armstrong.
Wilson was visiting Austin, Vermont, before the upcoming race, where authorities believe Armstrong shot her several times in the apartment where she was staying.

Strickland told investigators he met with her to swim behind Armstrong’s back and then left her in the apartment before returning home, according to an earlier oath.
Shortly after Wilson’s return, authorities said the surveillance video captured Armstrong’s vehicle passing Wilson’s apartment. Wilson’s friend later found her dead dead inside.
Strickland told investigators that he had been in secret with Wilson because Armstrong disapproved of their friendship, as he met Wilson briefly last October while he was breaking off with Armstrong.
Text messages exchanged between Wilson and Strickland in January suggest that Wilson believes she is still in a relationship with Strickland, even though he is dating Armstrong, according to the affidavits.
Armstrong was questioned by authorities at Wilson’s death and said he could not explain why her vehicle was in the area at the time, according to the affidavits. She was then released by authorities, reportedly for legal inconsistency due to a typographical error in her arrest warrant.
