The fourth season on Netflix Strange things brought two memorable musical moments. The first participates Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) uses Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill as a kind of musical armor against the evil Eternal (Jamie Campbell Bower). IN last episode of the seasonEddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) belts out Metallica’s Master of Puppets on his guitar to distract the Upside Down demonstrations from his friends’ attacks.
In this vital, heroic moment, actor Joseph Quinn actually played guitar for most of the scene, although he also had a double stand to handle the more difficult parts. A video was posted on YouTube on Sunday showing Quinn practicing the difficult guitar part.
Check out the rehearsal below.
“Most of them are me,” Quinn said in a Stranger Things after show posted to Netflix’s YouTube channel on Saturday. “We had a very, very talented guitar player called Aidan, I think his name was, come in and do the solo.”
“But other than that, I had a blast.”
Last week, Metallica reacted to the use of their song on the show.
“We were beyond thrilled for (show creators Matt and Ross Duffer) to not only bring Master of Puppets into the show, but to build such a pivotal scene around it,” the band said on Instagram.
They added: “We were all excited to see the end result and when we did, we were completely blown away… It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and once again to be joined by all the other amazing artists featured in the show.”
