A new Max Raid event is underway in the Pokemon Sword and Shield games.
Until August 21st, Impidimp and its evolved forms, Morgrem and Grimmsnarl, appear more frequently in Max Raid lairs in the Wild Zone, Isle of Armor, and Crown Tundra.
In addition, players have a chance to encounter a shiny Grimmsnarl in five-star Max Raids. Your chances of finding one are pretty slim, though, so you’ll need to participate in as many max raids as possible if you hope to catch one before the event ends.
The Max Raid event runs until 4:59 PM PT on August 21st. Before featured Pokemon can start appearing in your game, you must first refresh your raid lairs, either by connecting to the Internet or selecting “Get Wild Zone News” from the Mystery Gift menu.
Grimmsnarl isn’t the only special Pokemon players can get right now. In honor of the 2022 Pokemon World Championships, Sword and Shield players can request free Victini via Mystery Gift until August 21. Those who attend the event in person can also pick up a special Sinistea.
Pokemon Sword and Shield first launched on the Nintendo Switch in November 2019. Since then, the games have regularly hosted special Max Raid events, although they have slowed down considerably in recent months after the next main games in the series, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, were announced.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will launch for Switch on November 18. The Pokemon Company is constantly revealing new details about titles ahead of their release. Earlier this month, the company shared a new trailer showing off the games open world region and several new Pokemon.
