Gavin Houck, the equipment manager for the University of Houston football team, drew a national television audience on Friday to show off his unusual skill: a belly flop while taking off a kicking shirt. (Watch the video below.)
During the Independence Bowl on ESPN, Hawk rushed to bring the T-shirt in his inimitable style. He dived onto the turf at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La., and emerged with the device. He then sprinted to the sideline and raised his arm in triumph before finishing with a shoulder roll and a cathartic scream.
Sure, the Cougars made some news with their 23-16 win over Louisiana-Lafayette, but it was Hoke who went viral.
