A departing Trump staffer broke an air conditioner by stuffing copies of pictures of Hunter Biden, son of then-President Joe Biden, into the vents, according to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman in her new book.
The strange act allegedly occurred in the final days of Donald Trump’s presidency as his aides prepared (or in some cases tried to obstruct) the transition to the Joe Biden administration, Politico reported Friday, citing an advance copy of the upcoming ‘Confidence Man’.
The stunt came as Trump himself continued to baseless deny the results of the 2020 election. Hunter Biden was a frequent target of right-wing ire in the run-up to the vote.
According to Haberman, the photo incident was the fault of an unnamed employee working for John McEntee, Trump’s director of presidential staff. It is not known how much it will cost to repair the device.
Aides in the Bill Clinton administration reportedly caused thousands of dollars worth of damage when they left the White House before George W. Bush’s presidency, including the mysterious case of the missing “W” on multiple computer keyboards.
