Binance Charity – the charitable arm of the Binance Exchange – has announced its plan to offer over 30,000 Web3 Education Scholarships as part of its Binance Scholar Program.
According to an official blog post on the cryptocurrency exchange, Binance Charity revealed that it has processed more than 82,000 applications for the Binance Scholar Program since the initiative was launched in July 2022.
To date, 67,155 of these applications have been approved for funding, with 36,500 places returned in 2022, while 30,655 places will be allocated in 2023.
“The response to Web3 education projects has been unprecedented, showing the intense desire many people have to learn about blockchain and De-Fi. [sic]said Helen Hay, Chair of the Binance Charitable Foundation.
Binance Scholar Program
The Binance Scholar Program acts as a platform that provides interested individuals with free access to the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to pursue a career in the web3 space.
From paying tuition and course fees at top educational institutions to providing employment opportunities to gain experience, BSP is designed to support participants at every stage of their Web3 career.
Under the implementation of the BSP, Binance Charity has disbursed more than $2.2 million (in BUSD) in 2022 to prominent educational institutions and organizations from several countries, including Nigeria, Germany, Senegal, Australia, South Africa, France, Cyprus, Ukraine and Brazil.
One such educational institution is the Nigerian School of Technology Utiva, which Binance Charity has partnered with to fund Web3 education for 50,000 students with 1,000 scholarships available for an exclusive one-year intensive training program designed to help participants gain employment in the blockchain industry.
Binance Charity has also formed cooperation Together with the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation and the famous technology community Lviv IT Cluster to help Eastern Ukrainians who have lost their jobs due to the ongoing war with Russia. Here, the scholarship program will focus on providing these individuals with the skills to re-enter the job market.
Other famous educational bodies and organizations participating in the scholarship program include the University of Western Australia, the University of Nicosia in Cyprus, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management (Blockchain Center) in Germany, the French Technology Schools Network Simplon, and Women in Tech.
The state of the crypto market
In other news, the cryptocurrency market continues to be strong, with several assets, including market giants Ethereum and Bitcoin, posting impressive profit margins in the past few weeks. Binance Coin (BNB), a native token of the Binance exchange, is one such asset, gaining 23.84% since the start of 2023.
At the time of writing, BNB was trading at $302.30, with a loss of 0.57% in the last 24 hours based on data from CoinMarketCap. Its daily trading volume decreased by 11.02%, resulting in a value of $645.25 million. However, BNB remains the fourth largest cryptocurrency in the world, with a market capitalization of $47.72 billion.
