My Best Buy members start getting an extra perk. From January 9th, free shipping will be available on all orders, with no minimum spend requirement, for those who join the Best Buy membership program. Previously, an order had to be $35 or more to qualify for free shipping.
My Best Buy is Best Buy’s idea of a membership program for regular shoppers and competes with the likes of Amazon Prime and Walmart Plus. Unlike those services, however, My Best Buy is free to join, meaning Best Buy doesn’t put its free shipping behind a monthly or yearly payment system.
In 2022, Amazon raised the price of its Prime service to $139 per year, though it includes extra features like Prime Video, ad-free music and podcast streaming, cloud storage, and more. Walmart Plus costs $98 per year and includes free shipping on all orders, exclusive offers, rewards on eligible purchases and fuel savings. Walmart is also getting involved Paramount Plus streaming.
However, the changes are not positive for My Best Buy members. While regular members will continue to get access to members-only deals, the My Best Buy Rewards program will become a benefit that is exclusive to My Best Buy credit card members. This change takes effect on February 14th. Previously, all My Best Buy members could earn 0.5 points per $1 spent in stores and online and receive a $5 credit for every 250 points earned.
