We are even more excited to announce that Devcon 7 will arrive in Southeast Asia in 2024! 🎊

Before you ask if our years are correct, we’ll tell you why Devcon 7 is scheduled for 2024. We’ve thought long and hard about this. Here’s why:

1) More effect 🌏

One of the strongest things about Devcon VI in Bogota was the participation of the thriving Latin American Ethereum community. Looking back over the three years, we’ve had a lot of time to engage with local communities, support and empower them, and make the biggest possible impact on the regional Ethereum community.

We aim to have the same impact on Road to Devcon 7 in Southeast Asia, providing more time for the thriving Ethereum community there to mature and develop further. We look forward to seeing new popular communities unfold. 🌱

Devcon VI Bogotá set a high bar in terms of community attendance, quality of content and updates, and the production itself. Devcon 7 scheduling for 2024 gives us time and allows us to maintain the level because of the following:

• The projects and protocol will have time to progress and improve, so the speakers will have something really important to share.
• With more production time and thought, we can make it a first class event again.
• A slower pace can make the event more accessible for those who want to participate but don’t want (or can’t) travel to Devcon every year.
• The longer you wait, the higher the expectations! 😁

3) Embrace the subtraction 🤲

This year, more Ethereum events and communities are popping up all over the world than ever before. Southeast Asia and Ethereum 🌏

As our flagship event, Devcon focuses on bringing everyone together, connecting with external communities, sharing important messages and updates, and welcoming newcomers to Ethereum.

Ethereum is global, and bringing Devcon to Southeast Asia is in line with our goal of reaching more local Ethereum communities, as well as increasing diversity within the Ethereum community at large. The Ethereum community is still in many ways dominated by the West, despite the fact that the cryptocurrency is practically used in Southeast Asia. To illustrate, four countries in Southeast Asia rank in the top 20 Global Crypto Adoption Indexwith Vietnam and the Philippines at #1 and #2.

Southeast Asia has huge untapped and ever-growing opportunities, similar to those we saw in South America.

Thus, Devcon 7 in Southeast Asia provides the opportunity to give a large, new, active and diverse community a platform on the global Ethereum stage.

👉 BTW, we are still evaluating specific locations in Southeast Asia, and the final decision will depend on a number of factors, some of which are as simple as venue availability. Some Southeast Asian societies have already made impressive proposals (still under study!), and We are reopening the forum To give some extra time to other Southeast Asian communities to suggest their cities!

The deadline for submitting proposals is March 15, 2023!

We can’t wait to explore the diverse cultures of Southeast Asia and the different places in this region, from the bustling streets of Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur to the beautiful beaches of Bali and Phuket, the majestic mountains of Vietnam, and more.

Finally, we would like to thank all those who submitted suggestions for a Devcon 7 site in the forum. It was very helpful, not an easy decision, and the suggestions will be useful for years to come, not just for Devcon but for many Ethereum community events.
