Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai received a total of $226 million in compensation in 2022, most of which came through stock awards, according to a securities filing the company filed on Friday.
Pichai received $218 million in stock last year through a three-year stock grant. His annual salary was $2 million from 2020 to 2022, the filing said. The CEO’s compensation package also includes nearly $6 million in personal security in 2022.
Other CEOs at Alphabet and Google made roughly $22 million to $35 million in annual stock awards, according to the filing.
The report comes as Alphabet begins cost-restructuring measures, including layoffs in January that eliminated 12,000 workers, or 6 percent of the workforce. Google CFO Ruth Porath announced earlier in April that the company would cut back on employee laptops and services to further cut costs.
