If you are often in Europe, you may have already seen this van in the form of a Fiat Ducato, but this thing is as fresh as a daisy in the United States.

The full-size Ram ProMaster van has been on sale for some time and some parts are starting to show their age. But that’s a thing of the past, as Ram has something new for this year.

Ram on Monday unveiled the ProMaster 2023 cargo van at Work Truck Week in Indianapolis, Indiana. As usual, the van is aimed primarily at those who use it for work vehicles, but the carmaker also seems to be reaching a growing segment of people who rely on vans as vehicles for a quasi-nomadic lifestyle. Oh yes, there is an electric model on the road.

It is quite easy to say at a glance that things have changed. The new ProMaster front panel is far more elegant than before, with standard halogen headlights (LEDs optional) that are brighter than before. The new front bumper is also quite aggressively designed. At the rear, the aluminum roll-up rear door is an option, but otherwise the van is not very different at the rear. A new super-high roof option is also available for the 13-foot van, adding about 10 extra inches of overhead space.

Interestingly, Ram also included an exclamation point to the #vanlife kit in his press release when he mentioned that orange is already the factory color of the paint. It may not be enough to affect everyone, but it’s refreshing to see the carmaker reach a segment that doesn’t usually get much time to air.

In total, the Ram ProMaster 2023 will be available in 19 different configurations, combining three roof heights, three wheelbases and four different lengths. Ram also highlighted ProMaster’s friendliness to improvements, aided in part by the front-wheel drive layout, which supports all mechanical parts at the front. Up to 12 connections can be found on the floor, each valued at £ 1,000, and there are also five 550-pound rings on the side walls. If you need to move people, that’s fine, because there’s also a Crew Van version with second-row seats for three adults.

Here you can store a lot of things.

Under the hood is Stellantis’ proven 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which produces 276 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. This is combined with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive. AWD is not available. But in its many variations, it can haul up to £ 6,910 and haul up to £ 4,680 of payload.

Ram also intends to introduce the cordless electric ProMaster in 2023. The carmaker had nothing to add but said Amazon would be the first commercial customer to use the BEV ProMasters as minibuses to deliver the last mile.

The interior has not changed too much, but a sleek new infotainment system will certainly attract the attention of buyers.

If all that wasn’t enough, Stellantis also invested in a range of technologies in ProMaster 2023. Standard safety features include frontal collision warning, crosswind assistance, post-collision braking and road sign recognition. The van can also be offered with adaptive cruise control, lane maintenance assistant, parallel and perpendicular parking, front parking sensors and rain-sensitive windscreen wipers. A digital rear-view mirror and a surround view camera are also available.

The features of the creation include a 7-inch touch screen running Uconnect 5, although a 10-inch split-screen display is also available. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as well as compatibility with Alexa, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth for two phones and air updates.

The 2023 Ram ProMaster will go on sale in the third quarter of 2022, and pricing information should be provided closer to the date it goes on sale.
